Saving Graphics Images

To save a selection or an entire document as a graphics image, choose the File Save Graphics File... command. You can save files in any of three formats: Portable Network Graphics (PNG), Enhanced Metafile (EMF), or Placeable Metafile (WMF). If one or more symbols is selected, a Save Selection checkbox is available in the dialog. If you check this box, on the material that is selected will be saved. Otherwise the entire document is saved as a graphics image.

Save As Web Page

A selection or an entire document may be saved as a Web Page in one of three formats:

  1. Raster image with an HTML wrapper.
This is the most universally standard format. An image of the selection or document is saved as a PNG (Portable Network Graphics) file, which is recognized by all modern browsers. Also a small HTML file is saved that references the PNG file as an image. Both of these files have the same name, with extensions of .png and .htm respectively, and must be located in the same directory on the server.
  2. VML format.
VML (Vector Markup Language) is an XML application that runs on Microsoft Internet Explorer (versions 5.5 and later). The image is represented as a sequence of vector commands. Typical documents are shorter, and load faster in this format. However, this format is not supported by other browsers. A single file is generated with an extension of .htm. Rotated text, and pictures in symbols are not supported in this format.
  3. SVG format.
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is an international standard XML application that is defined by W3C. Most commercial browsers required an add-in module to display SVG documents. These modules are available free from third parties. See the Novagraph web site (www.novagraph.com) for information on getting an SVG module. Like VML, SVG is a vector graphics language, and generally results in a smaller document than the raster image in format 1. A single file is generated with an extension of .svg.

To save a web page. Choose the File Save Web Page... command. A dialog will appear, allowing you to choose from one of the above formats. Choose a format, and then proceed to the Save dialog to name and save the file.
